Professional Mold Assessment and Testing

Mold develops in damp areas of a home. Basements, crawl spaces, bathrooms, and other areas exposed to moisture can lead to mold growth. If you notice a musty smell or think mold may be present, mold testing can help you learn more about your indoor environment.

Midwest Healthy Home Solutions uses air sampling, laboratory analysis, and other testing methods to look for signs of mold. We also consider moisture levels and indoor air conditions when evaluating your property.

Expert Mold Inspection before Testing

Black mold on the wall

A professional mold inspection is an important first step in identifying visible mold, moisture problems, and conditions that may encourage mold growth. We perform a detailed visual inspection and use specialized equipment to check areas where moisture may be present. The inspection findings help determine whether mold testing is needed and where testing may be appropriate. A mold inspection is helpful if your home has:

  • Musty or unusual odors
  • Water stains or discoloration
  • A history of leaks or water damage
  • Damp areas in the basement or crawl space
  • Possible hidden mold
  • Changes in indoor air quality

Indoor Air Quality Testing to Identify Potential Concerns

The air inside your home might contain mold spores, allergens, chemical pollutants, and other contaminants. Our indoor air quality testing helps identify potential concerns and provide a clearer picture of your home's indoor environment.

Midwest Healthy Home Solutions uses advanced monitoring equipment to evaluate your home's indoor air. Once testing is complete, we help you understand the results and recommend solutions based on the conditions found in your home.

Professional Humidity Control Services

Controlling indoor humidity is an important part of maintaining a comfortable home. High humidity can create damp conditions that support mold growth, especially in basements and crawl spaces. Our dehumidification service helps reduce excess moisture in these areas.

We provide whole-home dehumidification, as well as solutions for specific areas for moisture control. We evaluate the moisture conditions in your home and recommend an option, like AprilAire dehumidifier, that fits the space and your needs.

A visual inspection was performed in the basement. Three air samples were taken one in the first level of the home, one in the basement and one outside for reference. The first level showed slightly elevated and acceptable levels. The basement showed slightly elevated in multiple categories and elevated in one identification. Recommended working with a remediation contractor on ways of reducing the count in the basement of the home to more acceptable levels.

Three air samples were taken to test for mold in the first level, basement and outside. The first level and basement level were overall good with no significant elevated readings, only slightly in a couple of categories which is not uncommon as we bring mold in to our homes every tie we open doors. It was recommended to monitor the water leakage in the basement area and remove any water damaged drywall and other possible contaminated areas such as the carpet.

An air quality test was performed using the Air Advice which checks 6 categories in the air. The chemical level was very high. This can relate to VOC's such as cleaning products, air fresheners etc. or possibly the HVAC system. The HVAC system may not be bringing enough fresh air in to the home through air exchanges which could also be causing the Carbon Dioxide level to be high as well. It was recommended to contact a HVAC company to inspect the system. The EPA recommends increasing ventilation within our homes and an EZ Breathe ventilation system was discussed as a product that conducts whole home air exchanges.
