Professional Mold Inspections for Homes

Mold often develops in places that are difficult to see. Areas with excess moisture, water damage, or poor airflow can support mold growth long before visible signs appear. Our comprehensive inspections focus on identifying both existing mold and the conditions that allow it to thrive.

During the inspection process, we carefully evaluate common problem areas such as attics, basements, and HVAC systems. Customers get a clear report on the findings that explains any concerns and the next recommended steps.

Spot Hidden Mold Growth Before It Gets Worse

Hidden mold can spread quietly for weeks or even months before homeowners notice obvious damage. Recognizing early warning signs allows you to address the problem before it affects your property's structure or indoor air quality. Some common indicators include:

  • Persistent musty or damp odors
  • Dark spots or discoloration on walls or ceilings
  • Peeling paint or bubbling drywall
  • Increased allergy symptoms while indoors

Accurate Mold Testing to Identify Hidden Growth

A visual inspection alone cannot always determine the extent of mold activity. Our mold testing services at Midwest Healthy Home Solutions provide a more complete understanding of your home's indoor environment and mold presence.

Combined with moisture readings, air, and surface sampling, the testing provides homeowners with accurate information so they can make informed decisions about remediation, repairs, and future moisture prevention.

Benefits of Indoor Air Quality Testing in University City

Indoor air quality testing using advanced equipment

Indoor air can contain far more than dust. Allergens, airborne particles, and other contaminants may circulate through your HVAC system without obvious signs. Our indoor air quality testing helps identify factors that may be affecting your home's comfort and overall air quality. Professional testing offers the following benefits:

  • Locate potential sources of contaminants
  • Evaluate airflow throughout the home
  • Identify humidity problems
  • Detect airborne allergens and pollutants

Improve Ventilation with EZ Breathe Systems

The occupants' health in a home, as well as the indoor air quality, both depend highly on proper ventilation. For properties with limited airflow, our EZ Breathe ventilation system works like a wonder. It continuously removes stale air and trapped moisture, replacing it with fresher, drier air.

This whole-home ventilation system operates quietly in the background, cycling air multiple times each day to reduce humidity, odors, and airborne particles. Homeowners from University City choose our ventilation system for optimum airflow.

Complete Dehumidification Services

Installed dehumidification system

Excess humidity creates the perfect environment for mold-mildew growth and moisture-related structural damage throughout the home. Our professional dehumidification solution helps maintain optimal indoor humidity levels by reducing excess moisture in the air.

Upon inspection, we recommend proper system installation, such as AprilAire Dehumidifiers, to control moisture. By blocking moisture from entering foundations, we reduce mold risk and further structural problems.

Protect Your Home with Basement & Crawl Space Waterproofing

Water intrusion in basements and crawl spaces can lead to persistent moisture problems, structural deterioration, and increased mold risk. Our crawl space and basement waterproofing solutions keep these vulnerable areas dry by addressing leaks, controlling groundwater intrusion, and preventing excess moisture buildup.

Across University City, prevent water damage and mold in your basement or crawl space with expert solutions from Midwest Basement Tech, our trusted sister company.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I have my home's indoor air quality tested?
Indoor air quality testing is recommended whenever you notice persistent odors, excessive humidity, allergy symptoms indoors, or after water damage. Many homeowners also choose testing before purchasing a home or after completing major renovations to make sure healthy indoor conditions.
Will reducing humidity help prevent future mold problems?
Maintaining proper indoor humidity is one of the most effective ways to discourage mold growth. Professional dehumidification, improved ventilation, and addressing moisture intrusion all work together to create conditions that are less favorable for mold development.
Can mold grow even if I don't see visible water damage?
Yes. Mold often develops behind walls, beneath flooring, inside crawl spaces, or around plumbing leaks that remain hidden for long periods. Even small amounts of trapped moisture can create conditions where mold grows without obvious signs.

A visual inspection was performed in the basement. Three air samples were taken one in the first level of the home, one in the basement and one outside for reference. The first level showed slightly elevated and acceptable levels. The basement showed slightly elevated in multiple categories and elevated in one identification. Recommended working with a remediation contractor on ways of reducing the count in the basement of the home to more acceptable levels.

Three air samples were taken to test for mold in the first level, basement and outside. The first level and basement level were overall good with no significant elevated readings, only slightly in a couple of categories which is not uncommon as we bring mold in to our homes every tie we open doors. It was recommended to monitor the water leakage in the basement area and remove any water damaged drywall and other possible contaminated areas such as the carpet.

An air quality test was performed using the Air Advice which checks 6 categories in the air. The chemical level was very high. This can relate to VOC's such as cleaning products, air fresheners etc. or possibly the HVAC system. The HVAC system may not be bringing enough fresh air in to the home through air exchanges which could also be causing the Carbon Dioxide level to be high as well. It was recommended to contact a HVAC company to inspect the system. The EPA recommends increasing ventilation within our homes and an EZ Breathe ventilation system was discussed as a product that conducts whole home air exchanges.
